Play it now!

I got the brilliant idea for this game back in January while exploring the magnificent Cornish coast. A few days into the road trip, I met this wee lassie named Tammy Refueler (not her actual surname - it's just what UKians call their best gas station employees). She asked why I looked like such a Debby Downer, so I explained that I was getting my knickers in a twist due to people in my neck of the woods making fun of me for owning a gas guzzling Honda Civic instead of getting an environmentally friendly Tesla (people adore Elon Musk in Norway). Before I could finish my melancholic soliloquy of scattered thoughts, she interjected with a simple yet captivating assertive inquiry: "What can a man do these days without petrol?"

She continued elaborating that instead of watching "mind-numbing American telly", I'd be better off doing something therapeutic for my soul while temporally spreading the jolly good time with everyone around me. She also mentioned something about drinking copious amounts of Yorkshire tea, not PG Tips.

As I drove into the sunset, with my GPS set for the Scottish Highlands with a slight detour through the Lake District, I thought what could be more therapeutic than a physics-based cellular automaton sand game? The stereo blasted K.Flay's masterpiece Nothing Can Kill Us as the 1.8 liter i-VTEC purred away from a couple of Crawley chavs on unlicensed e-scooters who wanted to shank me for being on their endz bruv.

I've been AWOL for about 2 years, but recently decided to make an effort and update the game due to a couple of reported bugs aching to be mended. Change log for your reading pleasure is available in the description.

Also, only a month till little Christmas eve.

I've been doing web development since about 2012 and I'm honestly sick and tired of it. Sure, it's gotten a lot better since the jQuery era when developers needed to rely on JavaScript libraries to support older browsers to do even the simplest of things. But even though browsers have become more standardized with their features and support for different web APIs and such, it's still a struggle.

I can't count how many times I've come across even the smallest issue causing massive problems in different browsers. Sometimes, it's just a simple fix requiring something like quick polyfill, but most of the times it ends up being an endless rabbit hole of botching, fixing and testing. There have actually been times where I've fixed something in such intricate ways that it made me question reality.

And don't get me started on maintaining old codebases. It seems like code just rots if you leave it for a few years.

I'm looking for localization testers to check the quality of the translations for my game. Click the cog wheel in the bottom right corner and click "Language" to see the ones available. Send me a message if you're interested. If you don't see your native language and want to help out, let me know!

I really appreciate the positive feedback I've received on my game in the past year. The response wasn't expected as this was initially just a random game I had made in my free time back in November 2013. With this 2.0 update, the game is pretty much done.

Currently, there are over 3100 lines of code in the game, 65 people have submitted their highscore to the leaderboard, and there have been 7890 rounds played.

This update includes some improvements to the AI, game engine, hitboxes and the general UI. The full patch notes can be found in-game by clicking the settings wheel in the bottom right corner.

Earlier this year, I started playing the piano and learning about general music theory. It's actually a lot more fun than I initially thought back when I was just the wee boy.

Anyways, my good friend Ragu and I decided to remake our favorite "classic": Calvin Harris - Feel So Close. He did the vocals (which I may have auto tuned a bit excessively in hindsight) and I made the rest in FL Studio. It's not perfect by any means, but it was a ton of fun to make.
